Covid-19 Came To Punish Unbelievers – Pastors Preach As They Violate President’s New Directives

On 31st May 2020, President Nana Akuffo Addo lifted the ban on social gatherings with few measures. He asked churches to re-open and conduct their usual services that they did in the past until covid-19 brought a stop to all of it. But in his speech, he made it clear that services should be done within an hour with a maximum congregation of 100.

On 7th June 2020, churches resumed service for the first time in a long time. Some churches had three to four services, others too had only one service. Some churches with huge number of members still have their churches closed down until President gives them full control of their services. On 14th June 2020, about nine (9) churches within the communities of Ramseyer, Nahinso, Sawua and Aputuogya in Ashanti Region, Kumasi didn’t follow President’s order. They did services for almost two (2) to three (3) hours.

Some of the members in these nine churches were not happy about it but they had no option than to follow through. Social distancing was also absent in some churches. The church leaders did not also enforce wearing of nose mask to the auditorium. They only had veronica buckets and sanitizers placed in front of the auditorium and they felt that was enough.

It looked like five of these churches, their head pastors had similar sermon topics. These pastors told their members that the Coronavirus came to punish unbelievers and that it’s only unbelievers that will die from the pandemic. Even if a believer gets the virus, God will wash it out of their system and they will be strong again. So their members should not be afraid but they should continue with their work as usual.

It looks like if government doesn’t charge the police to move into the communities to monitor churches, they will still violate the laws.
